Quetzaltenango!

I'm sitting in my language school as I type.

I made it, folks!

I'll be here in Quetzaltenango for about three weeks. It is my first day and I am simply getting used to everything. I met my host family and they are so sweet. It's a woman and her daughter. They are CHRISTIANS. To say that this is a blessing is such an understatement. Dios es SOBERANO. I now have spiritual support to come home to each night. My hostess doesn't speak English, nor does her daughter. Can we say immersion?

[Side note: I have to share the fact that they are playing DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE in the internet cafe I'm in. This reminds me of home. I absolutely love this band. This also happens to be one of my favorite songs ever. God is good. Ahhhhh.]

Today has been good so far. I left from Guatemala City this morning on a bus with a friend I made named Tristan.

This is us on the BOOS (bus, if you will):

We ate breakfast (fruit, bread, and coffee strong enough to make any boy a man). The bus ride was around four hours long. It was BEAUTIFUL. Aside from the intermittent nausea, it was a delightful trip. I saw so many beautiful mountains, and farms, and architecture, and flora, and people. The Indians dress so beautifully. I absolutely love they way they strap their children to their backs.

I am still having cellphone trouble. It'll work out here soon I'm sure. A couple days and I should have a working EMC phone.

Something I'm VERY excited about: SALSA LESSONS EVERY WEDNESDAY TWO BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE! Amen. Amen. Amen. I am QUITE excited. We'll see how it goes :)

Pretty much my schedule will be Monday through Friday classes from 8 am to 2, one on one with an instructor. After that, I am free to roam about the cabin. There are a TON of young people here from all over the States and the world for that matter. I am sitting in the cafe and hear at least three languages not Spanish or English. I've heard you make friends quickly once classes start (this Monday). Some things you can do here include hiking, hot springing, [ok, now JZ is playing overhead...random...], zip lining, going to the markets, concerts in the park, visiting chocolate factories, museums, and so much more. There is no way I'll be able to do everything in three weeks, but I'm going to do as much as I can with what time I have.

I'll be posting pictures of my current home and the city by the middle of next week. I'll also let you guys know how classes are going.

Thank you so much for your prayers and the time you take to read this.

I love you guys. I'll keep you posted.

LOVE,

Codi
